All right, episode 29, friend of Jerry. We got a special guest in the studio today. Before I get to him, last week's episode was pretty cool. We talked a lot about the Zoom meeting that we do on every Tuesday for everybody. It's going great. This Friday coming up, going out West Virginia, Ruffin Routy to watch them and then after that going to Saratoga to bet some horses. So it'll be fun trip. Excited looking forward to it. In studio now though, one of the hottest rappers out right now, Big Fan of Mine, Millies. Millies is here, Kane Bridge, Massachusetts. Yes sir. Man, this is exciting for me. I remember watching a couple of your free styles a few years ago. And that's when I started, like I'd say four or five years ago, starting to listen to you religiously with the Blanco albums. Blanco 5 out now, one of the hottest albums right now. Yeah. This is really dope. And I listened to a song called Addictions, ictions with Static Selecta and I was like, oh wow, you know, this dude's story is pretty pretty fucking deep and I kind of wanted to dive into that. But before we do, um, what was the culture like in Cambridge, Massachusetts growing up there? Um, it was, it was like a diverse culture. It was, it's a melting pot, you know, the most languages are spoken in Cambridge, French and Latin, like out of any high school in the world. Um, so we grew up around every race, ethnicity. And I guess in my neighborhood, it was like very focused on basketball. And then, you know, it was a lot of drug activity too. A lot of drug activity because it was like the tail end of the crack error and shit like that. I noticed that you were in school and they diagnosed you with a behavioral disorder in school and school. And they started prescribing you drugs at a young age. What was it like? Did you know what you were taking? No, I didn't know at first. I forget the color of the pill, but I don't remember |
| 2:45.9 | if it was riddled in or what it was. |
| 2:48.0 | But I remember I would be plastered, |
| 2:49.4 | but I would focus on wrapping all day. |
| 2:51.6 | So wrapping since a little kid was always big? |
| 2:55.4 | Yeah, yeah, yeah. |
| 2:56.2 | I was always in the wrapping. |
| 2:57.2 | And I would take one of those pills. |
| 3:00.6 | I would just focus on wrapping all day. |
| 3:03.2 | That was my thing. And I was watching an interview on, I think you were on |
| 3:07.6 | no jumper, right? |
| 3:09.9 | And you started selling drugs at a young age. |
| 3:13.5 | Why did you resort to selling drugs, you would say? |
| 3:16.0 | It just kind of like fell in my lap, I guess. |
| 3:19.2 | I was in like 7th to 8th grade and my friend had like |
| 3:22.0 | an older brother who he was selling weed or whatever. And he just gave my friend who was a little older than me too a bunch of weed and my friend he's not really like cut for like the streets like that. I don't know I was more like ambitious than him at that point as far as like just being bad and shit like that and he gave me the weed I figured out how to get it off so that was like and then it just, I don't know, that was the thrill of making money. Yeah, did you like, did you do it more so to like kind of fit in in a way? Not really, because I was kind of like, I mean maybe, maybe because I was in like special education classes. So like my classes were like filled with just all kids that were getting in trouble, but it was only about like six, seven of us. You know, so maybe to fit in with them, I guess. But at the same time, I was just ambitious to do bad shit. So that opportunity fell in my lap and I was just good with it. I had to give the gap, you know, I found my first client |
| 4:47.7 | and I was all from running. I noticed every interview you go to is like always in a basketball jersey. I know you're a Celtics fan because I've seen you on TV a few times during the playoffs this year. Yeah. Is that your favorite sport? Well usually I only wear the basketball jersey is like when I go to rap. Okay. Like yeah, like, but cause that's like my, my form of sports shit like that. |
| 4:46.1 | But yeah, I'm a big basketball fan. |
| 4:47.7 | The owner, um, the founder of this company, I'm not sure you know who he is, Dave Portnoy. Yeah, I met him. I met him. Um, I met him at the, uh, playoff game. Yeah, we met in the little VIP Celtics shit. Yeah, he's I forget which one maybe on the bucks was a game seven or game six with my in windows |
| 5:07.0 | Yeah, he's a he which one maybe on the bucks was a game seven or game six with my in one of those |
