Many people believe that raw milk is the number one cause of pathogens in dairy, but is it the raw milk itself causing the problem, or is it contaminated milk? It's important to remember that just because something is pasteurized doesn't automatically make it safe.
It's also important to understand that E. coli is not just found in raw milk but can be present in pasteurized milk, too. In fact, we all have E. coli bacteria in our gut right now, which helps with digestion. The problem arises when certain strains of E. coli become pathogenic due to unsanitary conditions on the farm where the milk is produced.
This is why knowing where you're getting your dairy products from is crucial, and ensuring that the farm follows strict hygiene protocols. If proper precautions are taken and the farm is clean, raw milk can be a beneficial option.
One of the main benefits of consuming raw milk and raw milk cheese is that they contain enzymes that aid digestion. For example, lactase helps break down lactose (milk sugar) making it easier to digest for those intolerant to lactose. Raw dairy products also contain probiotic-friendly bacteria that support our immune system and gut health.
Research has shown that children who consume raw milk have lower incidences of asthma, allergies, ear infections, and respiratory infections than those who consume pasteurized milk.
Choosing high-quality raw dairy products from grass-fed cows also provides additional benefits, such as higher levels of essential minerals, including calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which can aid in weight loss and have anti-inflammatory effects.
Of course, it's important to research and purchase grass-fed raw dairy products from a reputable source that prioritizes cleanliness.

0:00.0 | Did you realize that raw milk and cheese cause 840 times more illness than pasteurized milk and cheese? |
0:10.9 | I mean this is like really scary if it was true. It was being advertised by a |
0:16.4 | media company. I mean why would a media company pay for an ad to scare people against raw milk. |
0:23.0 | So today we're going to talk about is |
0:25.0 | raw milk and raw cheese really that much more dangerous than pasteurized milk or cheese? |
0:30.0 | You know, they say that raw milk is the number one cause of pathogens in |
0:35.5 | dairy and I question that like is it really the raw milk that's causing the |
0:39.7 | problem or is it the contaminated milk? I mean just because something is |
0:44.4 | pasteurized does not automatically make it safe and of course they're going to |
0:48.9 | talk about oh there's like high amounts of E. coli in raw milk. Well, first of all, E. coli is not only in raw milk, it's also |
0:57.6 | in pasteurized milk. In fact, in your body right now, you have E. coli. E. coli is part of the friendly bacteria that we have in our gut. |
1:07.1 | In fact, E. coli helps us digest. But there's a point where E. coli can become pathogenic in the right environment, |
1:15.2 | but it's not necessarily just because something is raw. So it's my opinion that the problems |
1:20.4 | that come along with raw milk really have to do with farms that are not clean. |
1:25.7 | And this is why it's so important to really know where you're getting your milk. |
1:29.0 | And this goes for cheese as well. |
1:30.6 | I mean, if you take raw cheese versus pasteurized cheese there's a big |
1:35.2 | big difference. First of all the way they test to make sure that something is |
1:39.8 | thoroughly pasteurized is they measure how much activity that this certain enzyme has. |
1:46.0 | So if this enzyme is inactive, then it's pasteurized. |
1:50.0 | And so when they pasteurized and get rid of the enzyme, the question is do you really get the benefits of building bone, |
1:56.7 | making calcium and phosphorus very bioavailable. |
