Welcome to Miles of Books. I'm your host, Sarah Bowen-Shea. And because this episode focuses on novels, I'm joined by Ellison Weist. Hello, Ellison.

For our last two fiction episodes, as you know, we focused on one breed of books, thrillers on the on the July 1st episode, and then debut novels

on July 29th, which was the last episode that you and I talked for. And, but maybe I missed a

memo here, but there's no unifying theme among these books. Or is there, Alison? There isn't.

The only thing that I will say is none of them are debuts, and a couple of them have,

this is like their fifth or sixth book. So that was one thing. If there's any theme, it's probably

just let's see what these authors have up their sleeves right now.

Okay, good, yeah, because we definitely have not promised that there will always be a theme.

So, but I just want to make sure that I, like I said, that I didn't miss the memo.

So, okay, so our first novel that we're going to talk about is the Satisfaction Cafe by Kathy Wang,

which I will admit I have not read.

This book is about an Asian woman who comes to the United States after a pretty disappointing family situation and figures that she will go to school in California, she'll get married,

and things will progress as it does with most young women, or in her mind, most young American

women.

She has a disastrous first marriage that lasts a very short time and pretty sort of a disastrous way that it ends.
