0:24.7	The Grand Egyptian Museum was scheduled to open a couple of weeks ago. I should have mentioned
0:30.5	this before. And they have canceled the opening, the grand opening. It's just one episode after another.
0:39.3	This has been going on for almost eight years.
0:42.3	They'll announce an opening, and then they say, no, we're not going to open it.
0:48.8	And from all indications, the museum's ready to open.
0:53.6	The interior is ready to go. It's ready to take people.
0:57.3	I think there's an administrative problem. I'm not going to get into this, but remember,
1:03.2	when you're dealing with a developing country, there's all kinds of snafews and logistical issues

1:17.8	And I thought in the beginning that they were letting Germans or perhaps a French exhibition company run the show.

1:22.2	And this is the heart of the problem, is that this is a huge museum, 500,000 square feet, five warehouses connected
1:33.9	into one, it's a monster, over a million artifacts, statues, carvings, whole sections of temples are in this place. It's now thought to be the
1:48.3	largest collection of Egyptian artifacts in the world outpacing the Louvre in Paris,
1:54.2	the British Museum in London, even the Met in New York. The Egyptian museum is a monster. And the logistics of dealing with a museum that
2:07.3	big are huge. And you have to very, had to have very coordinated staff. And I don't know if the fear of opening has been that they just won't be ready for the people,
2:21.7	but they do have another museum.
2:23.2	They have a museum in Cairo that is two levels.
2:27.4	It's been there since the 50s.
2:28.7	So they have an understanding of how to deal with large public groups.
