I thought it would happen during the Eagles game on Sunday because the last time the Cowboys made a coaching change.

They made sure to announce it during an Eagles playoff game five years ago when Jason Garrett was out and they embarked on the search that resulted in the hiring of Mike McCarthy.

Now it was announced on Monday that Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones are going their separate ways.

And look, we've seen this before, mutual parting, baloney. Here's what happened. Here's what

happened. Jerry Jones would have kept him if he would have signed a short-term contract. He wasn't

going to sign a short-term contract, so he's not going to keep him. McCarthy, and I don't know the specifics, but my guess would be McCarthy wanted four or five years

of guaranteed salary. Jerry Jones wanted to pay one or two because Jerry Jones doesn't like to pay

people to not work, so he would have preferred to move on from Mike McCarthy without a buyout.

Because, again, even if you're ultra- ultra rich you don't like to give four five six

seven eight million dollars away when you don't have to it's one of the reasons you became

ultra rich you don't waste your money so at the end of the day i think jerry held firm

short term mccarthy wanted long term and they can say we never negotiated what the what the

you've been doing the last eight days if you didn't negotiate?

Why did it take eight days?

Something happened.

You didn't just go take a nap for a week and a half before you woke up and decided what you're going to do.

They couldn't agree on term, so they move on.

And I said this yesterday.

I don't rule out if Jerry doesn't get who he wants and McCarthy doesn't get hired somewhere else.

They could still come back together again and do the short-term deal.

Mike McCarthy can come back and say, well, nobody else has hired me.
