| 0:31.7 | of all time not a bad golf or either uh john welcome how are you doing good to see it all right |
| 0:36.7 | um you know it's funny the yanks have owned the twins year after year they Ralph Riether. John, welcome. How are you doing? Good to see it. I'm feeling good. Thank you. All right. |
| 0:57.2 | You know, it's funny. The Yanks have owned the twins year after year. The twins have never been an issue for them. But this is a little different of Minnesota team. They've got a lot longer lineup. Question is how well both bullpens pitch against all this power. When the team's played in the season, hit 20 home runs in three games i mean we know both |
| 0:54.9 | lineups stacked with home run hits do you how do you what do you expect from the pitches attacking |
| 1:00.4 | these lineups well the biggest thing is in compost season obviously you pitch a little differently so |
| 1:05.1 | regular season take more chances you're going to give up more home runs there's going to be home runs |
| 1:09.8 | but not at the rate we saw these two go dad you a great. You have great postseason pitch you. How do you pitch differently |
| 1:13.6 | in the postseason? So you never guaranteed another start. So you should be the longest game you've ever pitched mentally. You don't take any chances, 3-1. What I basically did was I looked at a lineup and I assume who was aggressive, who wasn't. |
| 1:26.4 | I don't mind giving up a solo home run. |
| 1:28.2 | I'm not giving up a two or three run homer. |
| 1:30.0 | I'm going to pitch to the guys that I want to... looked at a lineup and I said who was aggressive who wasn't I don't mind giving up a solo home run |
| 1:28.2 | I'm not giving up a two or three run homer I'm going to pitch to the guys that I want to get out |
| 1:32.1 | and avoid the guys if the count doesn't go in my favor that I know can do damage so |
| 1:36.7 | aggressively if a guy was aggressive I was throwing a slider more than likely on a two |
| 1:41.6 | or a one oh count I was never going to just give back into the count with a fastball. And I think you pitch that way, you find yourself feeding off the aggressiveness of the other hitters. Now, of course, at home, it's a little different than on the road. And I basically, you know, would make a living on guys that did not want to pass the baton on and take a walk. If you don't want to take a walk, you're in trouble in the postseason. If you're willing to take a walk and pass it on to the next guy, you really can't afford a team of heroes come postseason time. You know, it's interesting. Haven't done this for so many years now and have watched all these teams do well in the postseason, badly in the postseason. Seen great postseason play from the Yankees seemed terrible. Certain guys just really good in the postseason I always asked them why. I asked Bernie why and Bernie was great. Better than he was in a regular season. He said, said, he said, you know what, I was able to slow things down. |
| 2:35.9 | You were a great postseason pitcher. You were better than your counterparts. You were better than Maddox. You were better than Glavin. Why were you better in the postseason? The biggest thing was I wanted to be there, and I was able to slow it. My heartbeat down. I didn't over it. So you were able to slow it then. |
| 2:48.7 | That's a key to being a good postseason player is to slow the moment down. |
