Trading Dead Line situation in the

situation in the NFL. So we're gonna go over some of that in a couple of minutes with Mike Florio of pro football talk and later in the podcast

we are going to talk to Andy Benoit, my former compatriot at the MMQB in Sports Illustrated.

He and I are going to review the first half of the season and we're going to talk about

whether the 49ers are really a highly contending team and I think they are I think

he does too but we'll talk about that in a few minutes.

You know but first let's just go over the things in the trading deadline

many of which didn't happen that we thought would happen but also a couple of things that did happen.

And, you know, first of all, I do want to just sort of emphasize what has been different about the NFL in this season and

in the last one, two, three years versus in the distant past.

And I've written about this a couple of times

in the last two weeks, but the reason that in 2019, there ended up being 61 trades in the calendar year versus 39 trades in 2009. I mean the biggest reason why is that I believe that general managers in the

NFL and coaches in the

coaches in the NFL like Bill Bellicick who have the ability to make trades with their teams.

They're basically saying hey listen we're not as worried

about future draft choices as our, you know, ancestors were, basically.

That is the, that's the real deal.

And the Patriots, for instance, who on Monday figured out a way that they were going to trade for Mohammed

Sunu, you know, entering week seven and they were going to have Mohammed

Sunu on their team the wide receiver from the Atlanta Falcons
