week, it's from Olivia. Why are people scared of spiders? Olivia, why are people scared of spiders?

Well, there are a few different reasons.

I think some of them are smart.

Some of them, maybe not so much, and we can get over it anyway.

There are evolutionary reasons why we're scared of spiders because they can be venomous.

So when we lived much more wild lives, we were out there interacting

with animals, trying to figure out what to eat all the time way, way, way back, we needed to be

alert to venomous animals. It helped our ancestors avoid dangers. So even though most spiders

today that we interact with are quite harmless, our brain still

reacts automatically. So that makes sense. That's really smart. Also, they look weird,

don't they? They look odd. They look like something from outer space. Their appearance triggers

fear. We react to things that don't look as we would expect. They've got eight legs, loads of eyes.
