This is our forever home, but I want to approach this as if it's anybody's build that I would be doing for somebody else where I'm really, I'm not just designing a house off site on paper and then just overlaying that on the site and seeing where it fits. I want to design this house based on this site.

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of Midweek Modern Craftsman with Tyler. I'm looking at myself right now on the screen and I look very orange, like way more orange than normal.

And I was just away this past weekend. My in-laws have a place up in like the Catskills area of New York. So it's outside and the sun's some. I know I got a little bit of sun, but I don't feel like I'm this orange. I look Jersey Shore Orange right now.

I'm just going to roll with it because I don't know why I look so orange and I know you guys aren't here to see my face anyway. I don't think that my lighting changed. It's very weird. It's annoying me. You guys aren't here to see my skin tones.

I do look very, very spray tan-esque right now, but so I'm just going to roll with it. So if you guys notice that I have a very orange aura, something's going on with my camera or my lighting or maybe I just got super tan this weekend, something is up.

A lot is actually up in the life of Tyler and Rachel.

We recently, I know that a few of you listeners who have paid attention are aware that we were buying some property. I can't even look at myself right now. This isn't saying it's the most orange I've ever looked in my whole life.

Maybe I have to change the lighting on maybe it's just too much of an orange hue right now, but I don't think that I messed with it at all. That's why I don't know if I should. No, that's really not helping. I'll put it back to where it was.

Doug's going to be like, what the heck are you doing? Sorry, I can't do two things at once. So we're deep. Let me take off my hat and I'm still orange. I need another haircut.

So Rachel and I closed on some property last week.

That is now it's almost June. You guys will be hearing this. I think this week because I didn't get a supplemental recording in last week. So I am a week behind schedule.

But we have been looking for some property for a while.

And initially we were we were looking at homes. So all right, let's rewind.

We moved into our current house in I believe 2017 or so 2016 2017.

We moved from a smaller house. Rachel got pregnant with our second. We needed a bigger house. We needed more room. We needed a bigger car.

Our house had sold and we found this property in Medford where we currently live. We have three acres. There is maybe another 10 behind us that was undeveloped.

The guy who sold to us still owned that he lived down in Florida. He had that subdivided and got approvals done on that for somebody to build essentially on two flag lots.

So we had known for a little bit that somebody he wanted a fair amount of money for the lots and we had known that somebody was going to purchase that and build but the basically what we thought was there's five acres on either side behind us.

That goes pretty far back to the woods that somebody would buy it and build a small house in the field back there be able to plant some landscaping and it would be not an issue for us.

You know we said nobody's going to buy that and build a massive house like right. Why would somebody want to live right behind us right on top of us on our property line.

So long story short that sold we were told there was going to be a small branch built back in the field and when things started happening come to find out it is a 9,000 square foot house.
