Summary

Join Josh and Brandon as we recap the highs and lows of GW26—including a postmortem on our Assistant Manager chip experiences—then quickly look ahead to Tuesday's midweek GW27 deadline. A key question is on Cole Palmer and whether he can reemerge as an FPL darling with the two best home fixtures of any fantasy pick in the next two gameweeks. Do we dare we give Cole the armband? Plus, we discuss how the GW29 blanks for Liverpool, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace should impact our upcoming transfer and chip strategies—speaking of, what even is the optimal chip strategy at the moment? Let's dig in. Hail Cheaters!

Hail cheaters. Welcome to the always cheating podcast. My Josh. I'm with Brandon. Brandon, how are you?

0:23.3

I'm good. All things considered. We can't just do our usual sort of preamble, talk about nonsense, because by the time people are listening to this, Josh, it's like 24 hours to the next deadline.

0:36.5

I thought you were going to go somewhere else. We can't talk about nonsense because of everything that's going hours to the next deadline. I thought you were going to go somewhere else.

0:37.6

Like, we can't talk about nonsense because of everything that's going on in the U.S. And, you know, the stakes are too high. No, no, no, you're saying, we have like 36 hours to the deadline. That's true, actually. There should be like an 18-minute pot, really. You know, just get in and get out. You know, people are talking a lot about the doomsday clock these days. And you think that they're talking about World War III, but they're actually talking about the deadline for game week 27. Yeah, a.k.a. the doomsday clock. Yeah. It's always one minute to midnight. You know, it's like, and it's so funny because they like, it's like part of me wonders if those like a bulletin of the atomic scientist or whatever, it's like they, it's deep down to they kind of want there to be like a limited nuclear war, like not a big one, but just like, just so that they can like, like they actually like can be proven right because they've been at like one second to midnight for like 75 years now. You know, it's a long time to be right there. Yeah, yeah. What fun is having these toys if we don't get to break them? I mean, that was Oppenheimer's whole thing is we have to drop the bomb. I can't believe we're talking about this, but here we are. People don't really listen to this, Brandon. I'm not sure how many listeners are really here for deadline day advice.

1:45.9

Let's be honest with ourselves here.

1:47.8

So, yeah, please, finish your thoughts.

1:50.2

Yeah, right, right.

1:51.1

Well, you know, thoughts and prayers to everybody out there.

1:55.8

And I mean, I think like the real Oppenheimer.

1:59.7

Is it all of us?

2:01.0

Yeah, I think you're right. There's a little Oppenheimer in every single one of us. What have they changed the name of the Assistant Manager ship to the Oppenheimer chip? And you got to pick, like, a nuclear physicist to be a part of your team. That would really be a game breaker, I think. Talk about O.P. That's true. You know, you bring up the assistant manager,

2:18.7

and I guess we can actually,

2:20.8

I think we can just get into it right away

2:23.6

because you and I have now wrapped our assistant manager chip,

2:26.9

we had multiple questions about the assistant manager chip.

2:30.6

And Boston Proff asked,

2:32.6

now that the assistant manager ship is behind many of us, not everybody, but many people, what's your overall evaluation of it?

2:40.4

Right.

2:40.7

So quick recap, this year there was a fourth mystery chip, right?

2:46.3

That was announced, I think it was announced in December, if I'm not mistaken.

2:50.6

Did they, did they did they did they yes so

2:52.5

they announced the mystery chip uh as quote unquote mystery at the start of the season and then they
