about midsummer we're talking about it with the marvellous Emma Vantrock Moller.

midsummer is of course a 2019 folk horror film written and directed by Ari Astor the film

stars Florence Pew and Jack Rayner as a dysfunctional American couple who travel with a group of friends

for a midsummer festival but find themselves in the clutches of a sinister cult claiming

to practice Scandinavian paganism.

This one has a lot of trigger content warnings because midsummer covers all sorts of different

things.

We talk about the movie's failings when it comes to talking about some mental health stuff.

We don't touch on the fact that the movie falls into one of the trips where handicapped

ultimately is scary although we do talk about that from the mental health perspective

but we don't talk about that with regard to other parts of the movie but that is something

to consider.

There's all sorts of writing and thinking on this movie and what it gets right and what

it gets wrong.

We kind of just grazed the surface I would say we discuss suicide and murder.

There's a lot of gas lighting that happens in this movie.

There's a lot in this movie that warns a trigger warning about it of course and a trigger

warning about our conversation about it.

So please just go in knowing that that's the case and know that we're going to talk about
