The Winchester Mystery House is a sprawling Victorian mansion in San Jose, California, built and continuously expanded by Sarah Winchester, the widow of firearms tycoon William Winchester.

According to popular legend, after the deaths of her infant daughter and later her husband,

Sarah was told by a spiritual medium that she must build a home for the spirits of those killed by the

Winchester rifle, and that construction must never stop.

Whether motivated by grief, spiritualism, architectural fascination, or just personal eccentricity,

Sarah bought a Victorian farmhouse and began building onto it, and the result was a labyrinthian

estate filled with staircases to nowhere,

doors that opened into walls, and oddly scaled rooms, some of them upside down,

a structure that felt less like a residence and more like a psychological landscape made physical.

Now, one of our most asked type of questions here on the podcast is about our supernatural

experiences and beliefs. So last week, we journeyed to the Winchester Mystery House and spent a

terrifying evening in what is said to be one of the country's most haunted locations. And we're

going to talk about our experience right now. Okay, so we decided to make a meal of this road trip. We wanted to go north and enjoy some of our downtime, and what better way to spend time together than exploring what California has to offer as far as the supernatural.

Victorian history, we actually didn't stop there. There was quite a lot to this trip, but we're going to focus on our very first stop. We bolted all the way up the state to San Jose, a place that we've

never really been before, surprisingly, because we used to terrorize San Francisco on the regular,

and they're so close to each other. But we decided to drive all the way there and just go in

and explore the mystery house. Right. So we did the, there's a tour that they offer there called like the flashlight tour. And the reason we wanted to do that was because first of all, it's at night. So if you're going to go look for supernatural happenings, I think nighttime is obviously better than daytime. But we also just wanted to get our own impression because like

I said, people ask us, what are your experiences or, you know, these things? So we didn't want a guide

talking to us the whole time. We didn't want someone walking us through the house. We wanted to just
