Hello everybody I'm John Fawcett with this Great America Show midday update for Thursday October 10th.

Inflation rose more than expected last month, dimming hopes for yet another big rate cut from the Fed.

The consumer price index rose 2.4% versus a year ago in September, above the 2.3%

increase economists had expected, this according to the Labor Department on Thursday.

Month over month, Consumer Price Index rose 0.2% steeper

than the 0.1% increase economists had expected, but even with the 0.2% number from August.

Core inflation is a metric closely watched by

economists that excludes the volatile cost of food and energy, rose 3.3 percent

versus a year ago. This number also ahead of economist predictions at a 3.2% year-over-year increase.

Inflation is a major concern for voters as they prepare to cast their ballots on November 5th.

Donald Trump has pressed his case to the public saying that he would bring prices down

that skyrocketed under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

Initial filings for unemployment benefits took an unexpected higher turn hitting a

seasonally adjusted 258,000 for the week ending October 5th, the highest total

since August 5th of 2023. With Halloween approaching America's favorite witch Hillary Clinton's latest book drastically

underperforming sales down more than 80% since her last book.

Hillary's latest book is another memoir about how unfair it was that she lost to Donald Trump and why you still owe her an apology for being right about everything.

Hmm, that's interesting.
