Hello everybody. I'm John Fawson with his Great America Show Midday Update for Wednesday, October 1st.

Well, folks, the government is officially shut down. It's right. The Democrats continuing to play

games, procedural votes this afternoon in the Senate failing because the Democrats seemingly just won't

come to the middle. Now, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has attempted to blame President

Trump and the GOP for the shutdown,

and it went horribly wrong during appearance on CNN this morning, following a surprisingly tough question.

Take a listen to Schumer, seemingly not be able to hear all of a sudden when asked about the government shutdown.

Every Republican who's gone on TV, the last 12 hours or so, has called this the Schumer

shutdown. What do you say about that name?

Senator Schumer, can you hear me?

I can't hear it.

Senator Schumer, can you hear me?

I don't think Senator Schumer can hear me right now. Maybe the

government shutdown included audio on Capitol Hill. Coincidentally, of course, Schumer couldn't hear,

right, when I asked the tough question about why he's got the government shut down. This is the Schumer

shutdown. The Republicans have passed many, many bills to keep the government funded for another month,

and he won't do it.

Now, the measure needs 60 votes to pass.

The GOP-backed measure failed to pass with a 55 to 45-45 vote.

Rand Paul, of course, voting with the Democrats.
