I'm Elvis Mitchell, my very poised guest singing across from me, Michelle Monaghan.

Somebody I always think of in terms of playing characters who bring common sense to the fore,

being in North Country or Kiss, Kiss, Bang, or Trucker, one of my favorite performances of all the time.

She does so much work where her characters have a way of just stating what needs to be stated.

And she's now starring in a new show on Hulu in the

second season, The Path. First of all, thanks so much for being here. Thank you. Thank you. I'm very

happy to be here. Happy to have you here, looking so great and all that black garb you're wearing.

But it is what you do. I mean, so many of these characters you play it, and that's what makes

your character in the path so interesting because there's almost an expectation that your character would be the person who sort of comes and plainly states what's going on.

And she's so invested in this thing.

We can't call it a cult.

We can't call it religion.

Let's say this lifestyle choice that she's made that the heartbreak is that she is commit to this beyond everything

else. Talk to me about what you thought when you first read the pilot script and you saw

the character on the page. Well, I was really intrigued by the world in which our showrunner

Jessica Goldberg had put on the page, you know, I think there is a

general fascination that people have with cults, French movements. You know, religion and

faith is a very universal thing. Whether you subscribe to it or you don't, you've made a conscious choice, whether, you know, you have your belief system or you don't share a common belief system, albeit agnostic, atheist, whatever that is, you've made a choice.

So I thought that she put our movement, which is completely fictitious and derived from a lot of

different religions and mysticism, if you will, into one fictitious religion.
