| 0:25.2 | Cutting through the noise, our take remains that there's still plenty of risk of tariff increases this year. |

| 0:32.1 | France agreed to withhold collections on its new digital |
| 0:34.8 | tax, which would largely impact US companies, while the US and Europe attempted to negotiate |
| 0:39.2 | a broader arrangement through the Organization for Economic Cooperation and development, the OECD. |
| 0:44.4 | But the story didn't end there. The UK, Italy, Austria, and Turkey remain among countries |
| 0:49.7 | considering an imposition |
| 0:53.4 | last week in Davos would be grounds for a response with auto tariffs. |
| 0:57.4 | The EU is also considering a carbon tax, |
| 0:59.8 | which again was met with a warning from US officials that tariffs could be one way the US responds. |
| 1:05.0 | The bottom line is that much remains unsettled in the US-EU trade relationship, and now the issue |
| 1:09.8 | of taxation has further complicated negotiations. |
| 1:12.8 | So while the US and China appear to be taking a short breather from their tensions, |
| 1:16.7 | we'd remain on guard for the situation with the EU to become more tense. |
| 1:20.5 | It's another reason that our strategists think that despite trade progress with China, U.S. equities are |
| 1:25.1 | unlikely to repeat their strong performance from last year. |
