Hey, I'm Erich Mataxas. Maybe you already knew that, but what you might not have known

is that this week I am actually not at all in the Empire State Building.

Not even in New York, I'm across the pond. No, not in New Jersey.

In England, yes, I'm in Oxford, England right now doing a special series of Socrates in the city events that Socrates in the city.

And I wanted to share them with you, my radio audience.

So now let's listen in to the Socrates in the city event I did yesterday,

or it may have been the day before I'm getting confused with the jet lag.

So this idea that Lewis does this thing, this outrageous thing, and doesn't tell anyone that is unthinkable to me.

So that was my first question. I thought, how is that possible?

How could someone create on this level and then just go off and die and never tell anyone?

Yeah. Well, I think one of the answers is sort of in that word behind us there, Socrates, you know, the Socratic method of teaching asks questions but doesn't supply answers.

That's the whole method of Socratic education, isn't it? You lay things out for your pupil.

You ask questions, you might even ask slightly leading questions, but you don't ram it down the students throat.

You wait for the student to work it out in his own time.
