I think it's really important that people get a sense that Haggai is looking forward to what God is going to do in the midst of his people.

And just as he did it for that generation, and it was centred on a physical temple in Jerusalem,

he's done exactly the same thing for us centred on the new temple raised up in Christ.

I really would hope that people would see Haguay ultimately as pointing to Christ

and of God's good purposes in raising up Christ to bless his people.
