As many of you know, legendary American biologist, author, and Harvard professor E.O. Wilson died on December 26th, age 92. Wilson was much admired for his environmental

advocacy and his pioneering work in the fields that came to be known as biodiversity and

sociobiology. His awards in medal that came to be known as biodiversity and

sociobiology. His awards and medals of which he won more than a

hundred for his scientific work are too numerous to mention. So how did

scientific American magazine honor Wilson's legacy upon his death?

Well, for one, it ran an article by someone named Monica McLamore, titled,

The Complicated Legacy of E.O. Wilson. We must reckon with his and other

scientists racist ideas if we want an equitable future. And what exactly were

Wilson's racist ideas?

Maclemore didn't specify.

On social media, when Maclemore was challenged to produce a single sentence of Wilson's that was racist,

she could not.
