I always tell people that the only communist country I've ever been to is California.

You seem to stick around there and really get in the weeds.

You go actually to San Francisco, which is really the capital of American communism.

How did you get into this sport of deciding that you were going to call it a sport?

That's a euphemism really.

But I get to be like going down and actually getting your hands into this sort of journalism.

I come from the radical left.

I was a very radical young kid.

I went to Nicaragua to help the San Anistas in the 1988.

I've always been committed to social justice.

I remain committed to social justice even though my politics are much more moderate right

now.

But yeah, I've always done investigative reporting.
