Summary

This week, Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets joins ‘The Old Man and the Three’ hosted by Cam Johnson of the Denver Nuggets — that’s right…it’s a podcast featuring the very two players that were traded for each other.

They obviously discuss what went down with the trade, the differences in playing for the Nuggets and the Nets, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, and their overall adjustments on both teams.

MPJ also gets very candid about his back and shoulder injuries, why he was disappointed in his draft process, and his early career with the Nuggets. They also have an awesome conversation about the differences in their shots, the NBA trade market, and so much more. Let’s go!

I've been trying to actually stay away from the podcast during the season. They told me about this one and, you know, us having a chance to chop it up. I thought it would be a cool, cool thing to do. Michael Porter Jr. Welcome back to Denver. Welcome back home. Let's get into it, man. Let's do it. Welcome back to the old man in the three. I'm your host,

Have you heard of this happening before? Nah, and that's kind of what I wanted to do it. I've been trying to actually stay away from the podcast this season during the, during the season, for the most part but um they told me about this one and and you know us having a chance to chop it up I thought

Yes sir. Let's get into it, man. Let's do it. Right off the bat, initial reaction to the trade.

1:12.9

Let's start here.

1:15.1

Following that OKC series, which we both watch really closely, did you think that a potential

1:21.4

trade would be looming this offseason?

1:23.9

You know, there's places probably you could find on the internet where I said, like, if we don't win, once you win, then you're expected to win again. And I had said, like, if we don't win, someone's getting traded. And during that playoff run, you know, Jamal and Nicola have the best chemistry in the league, best two-man game in the league.

1:45.1

So I knew it wasn't obviously one of them.

1:47.1

Aaron had a phenomenal playoff run, hit like three buzzer beaters.

And I felt like if I was half of myself, we win that series, probably go on to the finals.

2:06.9

And you're looking at a different story.

2:08.3

But I knew after we lost that final or the second round to OKC that it was a possibility.

2:16.0

And I did, you know, I did talk to the ownership a little bit.

2:20.1

And I talked to the GM and they made it sound like I was coming back and they were excited for me
