So today's guest is singer-songwriter Michael McDermott.

You might recognize that name as the same name as the Matt Damon character in Rounders.

That character was named after Michael, although the character is quite

different. The character himself isn't. But there was a period of time where my writing and directing partner Levine McDermott and I were like a traveling, a traveling band of lunatics in a way in our very very early 20s.

And there's just a lot to talk about with Michael.

It's kind of one of the reasons that I wanted to have a podcast

was to be able to engage in these kind of conversations.

Michael's had a very up and down career, which we're going to talk about.

He's reached some incredible heights and some real lows.

And when he gets here, I'm going to ask him to take us through all of it and

uniquely thus far on this show, I intersected with McDermott, I think I may be like the biggest moment,

and I've always wondered if perhaps it would have been better for him if that never happened.

So I'm going to talk about that too.
