This was one of the first episodes, I think in the top first 15 that we did.

McDermott has a new album out with his band, The Westies.

The album's called Six on the Out, and it's excellent.

And McDermott is one of those artists who somehow didn't hit the big mainstream success,

but well, not somehow. I mean, this episode of the show does a lot to explain why but none of it had to do with his ability

to write just heart-crushing beautiful powerful songs. He's one of the smartest guys I know, one of the deepest guys I know, and he's finally on the other side of a lot of trouble.

So here is a conversation I had about a year and a half ago with Michael McDermott.

You might recognize that name as the same name

as the Matt Damon character in Rounders.

That character was named after Michael.

Although the character is quite different.
