Something that I think about sometimes when we do this podcast in this in this new era that we're in,

this post, Bernie, post, Jeremy Corbin moment is like, what is the show even going to be now?

I'm sure a lot of sort of left media thinks about this, like if you don't have this stuff on the

horizon, these obvious things on the horizon that we're working towards, what is the narrative arc?

What are we going into? And I don't actually have an answer to that question, but what I do know is

that I watched a clip of Fox News' new late night talk show Got Felt. It's Got Felt with an

exclamation mark. It's their response to Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel. It's an angry guy,

his name is Got Felt by the way. And the reason I had such a long-winded intro into this is because

I feel like this era, this Biden era hasn't quite created itself yet. It doesn't have a shape,

but doesn't have an identity. And what we're seeing right now is the backwater,

the bilge of the previous era. I think we'll see a little bit of that in the documentary that we

watched this week. Do you know what I mean? Does that make any sense to you at all?

Well, yeah, I mean, as Karl Marx says, the tradition of all dead generations weighs like a nightmare

on the brains of the living. It very much does feel that way. I think you're right that this era has

I mean, everyone and everything seems to be running on empty. It feels like all the sort of raw

material in politics and culture, you know, all the reflexes people are are following everything

is just sort of a hangover from, I don't know, the last four years. I suppose the, you know,

the obvious explanation for that is just the coronavirus. People are stuck indoors. They're still

thinking about the pandemic. They're thinking about not seeing their friends and family, et cetera.

And you know, that's kind of arresting people's ability to form any kind of new imaginary in politics

...
