We watched a really bad movie just now and we're going to we're going to get to it soon. I was just thinking you know this is a movie that I saw very early and locked out and when I watched it

I thought this will be perfect for the podcast and it took until now and you know watching it again today I was trying to figure out what exactly was my enthusiasm because it is so painful, so difficult to get through.

And I maybe realized that in terms of the bad movies that we do I'd probably rather watch a Dinesh D'Souza movie because one of those is kind of all killer no filler.

It's got funny shit happening every second, but this movie like it's got a funny premise. It's got a lot to talk about, but also you just spend a lot of time seeing that premise over and over again and a lot of just Hollywood bullshit too.

It's the middle brow quality of shit like this or the attempted middle brow quality that makes it so difficult to sit through like I would rather watch any of those movies we've seen that are bankrolled by like an evangelical film company or something you know.

Like that that incredible one where it was the mayor of the town wants to bring back Christmas.

Yeah, Kirk Cameron saving Christmas right? No, no, no, that was that was a different one. There was I believe we saw the last ounce of courage and then the ACLU guy played by Fred Williamson like comes into town because he's kind of a carpet beggar and he's like on a single-hand admission to just destroy Christmas wherever it pops up.

Yeah, see those movies are fun because like the lib characters always basically have horns and they're like we must destroy Jesus.

This movie falling down by the way, this is one of those movies that in addition to all the funny stuff just has tons of boring Hollywood stuff about you know Robert Duval and his wife for you know the police department and just boring shit.

And like all those movies, it's incredibly reactionary but unlike all those movies, you know, it's a Hollywood film.

So it won't just rip the mask off and lean into that identity and it has to kind of cover its bases all over the place.

And get like a fun reactionary movie out of it which is interesting to talk about on this podcast but not much fun to watch folks.

Anyway, we're going to get to the movie falling down shortly. I just want to talk to my buddy Luke about the last week that I had because I had a pretty good week.

I felt pretty happy this week and I realized it's because this feels to me like the first post pandemic week.

I'm sure a lot of people are yelling into their phones right now the pandemic's not over you fool.

The thing is I went to a movie with a friend this week. I went to a movie by myself this week. I went to a bar with my girlfriend and we invited some friends over just very spontaneously.

After I came back from the movie this week, my girlfriend also had friends over and I just kind of hung out with them for a bit and we went to a coffee shop and here's the thing.

It didn't feel novel. It all felt like life before the pandemic. It didn't feel like any of these events had huge symbolic weight to them.

Which in itself ironically enough probably felt novel.
