We're recording this episode on Halloween by the way and it's going to drop after Halloween

and just minutes before recording, somebody sent me some of the spooky as news I've seen,

which is that my favorite character in film history, Jason, from the Friday of the 13th movies,

Jason. He's back, folks. That's right, Tensletown's original bad boy, Jason, is back on the scene.

I like how even though you're saying this in your ironic voice, like your lack of enthusiasm shines

through. Well, you know, the thing is I genuinely do love the Friday the 13th movies.

I've seen them all. There's a consistency to them. There's a ritualized quality to them

that I really respect. And I especially like the second half of the series where like the first four

or five, the first four really kind of set the template. And then after that, the series,

as it struggles to keep the audience's attention, keeps introducing fun new gimmicks like Jason

takes Manhattan. There's the one where he goes to space. There's the one where he fights the

telekinetic girl. There's the one of Jason versus Megalon. Yeah, yeah, all of them. But Jason

is facing his greatest challenge yet, which is Prestige TV. There's a headline here from Variety,

Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake from Brian Fuller ordered at peacock. Brian Fuller

is responsible for such shows as American Gods dead like me pushing daisies and Star Trek Discovery.

And there's going to be a Friday the 13th prequel series presumably about grief and trauma.

I have to assume. It's like will the forces of cultural gentrification stop at nothing? Will

they come for everything? I mean, Friday the 13th, I thought that this was one franchise that we

could rely on to just consistently deliver, you know, teenagers having sex and getting killed.

I like that the adjectives you've used to describe it or to praise it, I should say,

are I think you said that it was it's consistent and it's ritualized, which, you know,

too, too alternative words to use. There might be repetitive and formulaic, but you seem to be saying
