Memorial Day is one of the most American of American holidays, a day to reflect on the service of men and women

lost defending our freedom, keeping us safe and acting on behalf of us all over the world.

It's not a day to shoot fireworks and shotgun beers and red white and blue bathing suits, okay?

Let's support America and those who we've lost in a respectful and meaningful way.

July 4th, feel free to act like an asshole

and celebrate that freedom.

All I ask is that you take one second this weekend

to think about all those Gold Star families who've lost loved ones

in service of our flag.

And while it's always a good idea to thank a veteran for their service, please remember

this is a solemn holiday to remember those who we've lost.

This weekend's also the unofficial kickoff to summer.
