Today's episode is Myca Reviews American Cinema, and today's film is The Legend of Cocaine Island,

streaming now on Netflix. As you may know, I'm not an admirer of an American cinema.

I prefer French noir. I'm kind of an asshole. But in service to you

the loyal listener of Mind of Micah, I have and will continue to sacrifice my time to view the

movies you want to watch and to tell you about them.

Today's film is an interesting one.

It's technically a documentary about a true crime story,

but it's not the standard nostalgia documentary we in America are most familiar with.

It doesn't lean on familiar faces or historical news clips.

It has no narrator. It's lad on subtitles and other methods of advancing the story. This is a Florida man's story and perhaps the quintessential one.

We all know the new genre of Florida man.

Whether you're listening to a morning zoo radio show on the way to work,

browsing Twitter at lunch,

or watching cable news at night,

you know exactly what I'm talking about.

It comes from some combination of gun laws,

outline rural communities, swamps, swamp creatures,

drug culture, wild animals, rednecks, white trash, and other trash.

The other ingredients in the myth of the Florida man phenomenon is the state's unique sunshine

laws.
