Summary

Edd Straw is joined by Jon Noble and Glenn Freeman to review the Miami Grand Prix. It was a race in which Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli completed a hat-trick of victories, but should Lando Norris have come out on top for McLaren, as he did in the sprint? That’s one of the questions the guys debate.

There’s also chat about Verstappen’s eventful afternoon, an explanation of Leclerc’s post-race penalty, praise for Franco Colapinto, and much more. Plus Edd, Jon and Glenn tackle the usual bumper haul of questions sent in by The Race Members’ Club.

But was this another race McLaren should have won? And what was up with George Russell on a weekend when his Mercedes teammate was on top? I'm Ed Straw and joining me to tell all are John Noble and Glenn Freeman. Well, Glenn, we've got to start with you. People will probably be able to see, or no, they won't be able to see, they'll be able to hear a little bit of the noise drifting from the hard rock stadium as we're still very much in the area. But I think it's your first visit to the Miami Grand Prix.

0:45.2

It is. Yeah. And I've not been a fan of it particularly watching it from home, because when you're watching from home, the thing of most interest to you is is the track any good is

0:54.5

racing any good there's nothing that inspiring about this track it's limited by the space they've had to

0:59.9

fit it in but having seen the event i see why people make a fuss about the event because this

1:06.2

this this fits f1's modern day description of we want every race to feel like a Super Bowl.

1:11.7

It's crazy.

1:13.3

Yeah, it's the first time I've been here since the first Miami Grand Prix, actually.

1:17.1

I've covered it on site.

1:19.0

And I would say it's improved a lot in terms of the way the race works and everything.

1:24.0

So very positive from that perspective.

1:26.5

And John, it's sort of a race that's settled down a bit now,

1:29.6

hasn't it? And it's the paddock in the stadium's quite a nice location. It uses the stadium

1:34.3

way better now than it did initially, because initially it was kind of incidental it was around a stadium.

1:39.9

But now the stadium is absolutely core, certainly for those on the ground. I know those listening

1:43.8

might not be that bothered about our experience in and around it.

1:47.6

Yeah, it's one of my favourite Grand Prix.

1:49.6

There's some weird quirks in it, like to get to the media centre, there's two options.

1:53.7

You can be boring and walk down a corridor and get in a lift, or you can pop out the paddock and get in a golf buggy that then drives you up this kind of helix rotation thing to the top, or alternatively, you can go down and more.
