Hey everyone, welcome back to the millennial investing podcast.

0:06.6

As always, I'm your host, Rebecca Hotsko.

0:09.7

And for today's episode, it's going to be a little bit different.

0:13.0

It's just me because I wanted to do an end of the year recap of 2022 and go over what happened in markets and share some of my biggest learnings and

0:22.8

takeaways from the guests that I've had on this year. I know that I've learned an incredible

0:27.5

amount from speaking with so many great guests over the past six months. And so this episode

0:32.8

will be all about the most important takeaways and how we can use this knowledge to be better investors

0:39.2

and in our own investment strategy going forward. So with that all said, I really hope you

0:46.0

enjoy today's year-end episode. You're listening to Millennial Investing by the Investors Podcast Network,

0:53.2

where your hosts Robert Leonard and Rebecca Hotsko,

0:56.7

interview successful entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors to help educate and inspire

1:01.7

the millennial generation.

1:16.8

1:34.4

in terms of price performance and earnings growth, where if the energy sector was excluded from

1:40.6

the index, the total earnings for the S&P 500 index would actually have declined by

1:46.9

almost 2% rather than the 5% growth that is expected. So the market as a whole has really been

1:54.2

driven by energy, which isn't a surprise to many of us. We've heard this from lots of guests on the show.

2:00.5

But jumping into this in a bit more
