I'm Mama Jules, and today I have an update to a nearly 15-year-old cold case that,

unfortunately, is still cold. But a mother has

some peace and a father is looking to be out of prison in just eight months. This tragedy began

in Michigan in 2002 when Tanya Zovars and John Skelton married, and they began their little

family. And it happened quickly.

First came Andrew, then Alexander, then Tanner, all two years apart. As the stress of marriage

and raising a family consumed the couple, in early 2010, they began arguing about uprooting their family and moving to Florida.

Tanya said she couldn't, and I'll provide more information about that later.

Well, John was just kind of itchy, mentally experiencing some difficulties and looking to change their surroundings.

In the fall of 2010, when Andrew was

nine, Alex was seven, and Tanner was five, Tanya received an exasperated call from the boys

elementary school. Administration felt that Tanya should know that John had just checked the boys out

of class, saying he was taking them on

vacation to Florida. When he was asked by the staff, when the boys would be returning, he had

told the school it was an open-ended trip, and he just wasn't sure. Tanya knew nothing about the trip.

The couple hadn't made plans for such a trip, nor had they even

discussed a possible vacation. And Tanya was worried John had in some form kidnapped the kids

and made the move to Florida. Tanya called police and explained the situation. She then hopped in

the car with her mother and drove south to Jacksonville.
