| 0:11.0 | By that I mean your weekly long run. |
| 0:14.0 | That's assuming your micro cycle is a week, but it doesn't have to be. |
| 0:18.0 | Based on your life, work, and the quirks unique to your body, you may prefer a 10-day |
| 0:23.4 | micro cycle, 8 days, 11 days. |
| 0:27.2 | That's fine too. |
| 0:28.4 | It's important to listen to your body, learn from your body, and design a training |
| 0:32.6 | program that's appropriate for your body. |
| 0:36.6 | But whatever your micro-training cycle, |
| 0:38.8 | you should always incorporate a long run, usually once per cycle. |
| 0:43.5 | Since most people plan their running schedule on a weekly basis, |
| 0:47.3 | that's the cycle I'll use as an example. |
| 0:50.3 | Last time we talked about hard, easy training, |
| 0:53.5 | and we said you should have at least one easy day between each two hard days. |
| 0:58.0 | But we didn't talk about the weekend. That's because that's when most people do their once weekly long run. |
| 1:05.0 | Now, when we talked about hard easy days, I said your hard days should either be hard because they are |
| 1:12.0 | longer or hard because they include speed work. If you are in the base building phase of your |
| 1:18.6 | training macro cycle, and by that I mean the first portion of it, then your hard day would definitely |
| 1:25.5 | be a long day. That's because in the base building period, |
| 1:30.3 | your focus is on just getting in more miles, |
