I am willing to kind of have that one gamble on a starting pitcher on a long-term contract

that you know as a chance to not work out versus multiple guys.

So if you sign Corbyn Burns to a five or six-year deal, to me, that also means I'm building

out the rest of my rotation on short-term contracts.

I'm hoping that I hit the same way I hit the last couple of years.

Like I think if you're the Mets and your any team, even if you have no budget like Steve

Cohen, though I'm sure there is a budget, I only want one starting pitcher that I'm

going balls to the walls to on a long-term contract.

Now, I mentioned Gary Cole, nine years

three, 24. Let's look at some others. Let's look at some comparables. Carlos Rodan,

who did not nearly, not even close have the same resume as Corbyn Burns, got 6162. I'll tell you why that's very, very concerning.

It's not the money per year because that's $27 million a year, which I'm not losing

sleepover.

It's the fact that when Rodan got to free agency, he literally had one full elite season,

one, maybe one and a half if you want to include 2021.

In fact, you know what?

I'm a good guy.

I'll include both of those years because he made 24 starts.

All right, that's close enough to saying it's a full year.

He barely pitched in 20.

He barely pitched in 19.

He missed a lot of time in 18.
