I'm here with our new friend and patron patron Tom Dean. How you doing, Tom?

I'm very good. Thanks, Clint. You are now my second British friend named Tom.

Yeah, yeah. It's a very popular name for British men age around 30 to 35. I had about four of them in my,

just in my class at school. Lots of Tom's. Is it short for Thomas? It is, yeah. Okay, right on. Well,

thanks for being on the show. We're going to be talking about specifically Reading 2015,

because you were one of the lucky fans that got to be on the stage with Metallica. Tell us a

little bit about how you got into the band. It sounds like you're around my age, right? How old are you? Yes, I'm 34 now. Okay, cool. So what's your story? What's your online point with the band?

So I kind of, it was my, an older cousin of mine got me into them. I'm pretty sure. I was about when I

was 13 or 14, I distinctly remember him being over for a new year's and he played me

master of puppets the album and it just didn't sound like anything that was around at the time.

And he gave me that on cassette and the black album on a dubbed cassette,

and I would just listen to them constantly on my way to school with my walkman in my...

I went to, obviously, a grammar school in England, so we had to wear blazers.

And so my mum used to be really angry, so I'd rip the blazers pockets with my Walkman in it. And then at the end of

school, I'd try and rewind the cassette in my pocket to get back to the start of Sandman

for as soon as school finished. There is a, in the southern part of the States here, there

was like this, it was a commercial or a radio thing called Real American Heroes. It was like a beer commercial. And it was this sort of joke

on like heroism. And that story, you wrote to us in an email, like that makes you in my mind
