Summary
Trigger warning: suicidal ideation and suicide. National Suicide Prevention Hotline: 1-800-273-8255
This week is all about mental health as we are joined by the heartwarming and hilarious Lillian Hathaway. Lilly is a PA and an incredible advocate for mental health. She discusses the fluidity and lateral mobility that being a PA offers and shares her own personal experience with mental health. She was inspired by seeing a PA talk about mental health on social media and now broadcasts her therapy experience on Instagram through #myprojectstigma. Her project has the goal of destigmatizing the reality of serving as a healthcare provider and someone who appears to have it all together while also going to therapy. She discusses going beyond just therapy sessions to bring those lessons into your daily life and how to tackle the stigma that still exists for healthcare providers around therapy and medication. She also offers advice for people struggling with mental health as Danielle opens up about her personal battles. This is an emotional episode full of connection and breakthrough.
