Sometimes when you look at the Bible, it just seemed like a whole bunch of different random

stories. Have you ever looked at

the Bible that way just kind of feels like how does this all fit together you know

you read about no one some arc read about David killing Goliath Moses

liberating the people from Egypt and the exodus and then Jesus dying on a

cross you're kind of wondering how does all this fit together and what difference

does it make for my life today? Well my friends there is something I want to share with you today

from the beauty of Matthew's gospel the way Matthew brings all these stories together

and shows us so beautifully how all these different stories of the Old

Testament come to fulfillment they've reached their climax in Jesus Christ and I

want to continue our conversation from last episode about the beauty of

Matthew's gospel here is the church is getting ready in the next

liturgical year to focus on the gospel of Matthew and I want to give you one real

key to understanding Matthew's Gospel that's going to be really a key to just

understanding Jesus better, understanding the Bible better. Are you ready? So the key is probably something that Matthew himself had to face as he was writing his gospel.

He would have had one real big challenge that he knew he had to address with his audience, with his readers.

You see, many scholars recognize that Matthew is writing to a Jewish community, either a group of Christians from the Jewish background, Jewish

Christians, Jews have converted Christianity, or alongside them there's going to be Jews

that are sitting on the sidelines wondering about this Christianity

maybe considering becoming Christian or ridiculing the Christians

and critiquing the Christians.
