Season's greetings, Brexit casters.

It's Adam Fleming, just wandering around the Christmas market in Brussels,

doing some last-minute Christmas shopping.

And I thought I'd give you all a special gift,

which is the gift of being able to black on Brexit during the festive season.

So here are my top tips if you get stuck in a conversation about Brexit,

and you want to sound smart.

First of all, to ploy some weapons-grade jargon with tariff rate quotas.

Now, we discussed them a few months ago.

That's the idea that you can bring in some products like Lamb from New Zealand,

into the EU without any import duties.

The quotas are currently shared between the UK and the EU,

so they've had to make a joint approach to the World Trade Organization to sort them out.

You'll sound incredibly smart if you drop that into conversation.

Now, if somebody says something about Brexit, just say,

Oh, yeah, that was in the guidelines.

You'll remember that EU leaders published a document on the 29th of April,

right, at the start of all of this,

setting out their position on a whole load of Brexit issues.

And they've stuck pretty religiously to that script ever since.
