2019 I am John Podhoritz the editor of commentary speaking to you from the from

my sister Ruthie's bedroom in her apartment on Allen B Street in Tel Aviv. I've

been in Tel Aviv for the last four days because it was Ruthie's daughter

Avital's wedding on Monday night as I mentioned on the last podcast a beautiful

spirited lively immensely fun wedding dancing celebration good food this is

the greatest change in Israel for people who do not know the sort of recent

history of Israel if there was one thing you could say about Israel when I was

growing up and as a yeah as a man my choice in threes it was that the food was

awful the food here was terrible terrible except for the vegetables in the

fruit which were amazing but like cooked food you didn't if you if it wasn't

homo sir didn't have a you know a pizza around it everything was awful and

suddenly the food in Tel Aviv in Jerusalem has become really really good first

right and the food at the wedding was first rate that all week I've been

eating like a king Tel Aviv is now a great restaurant city it's also a great

lively dynamic immensely fun immensely architecturally interesting city with

this you know gorgeous with just with the Mediterranean lapping up right

alongside you all the way and so this is my we're not sponsored today by the
