director of Forensic Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital and the chief of psychiatry at Rikers.

And Dr Ford has spent the majority of her 20-year career working to improve treatment for incarcerated

people with serious mental illness.

She is currently the Director of Mental Health and Criminal Justice

initiatives and an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University.
