Summary

Talking points: anger, inner critic, passive aggressiveness, shame Haven't done one of these in a while! Every so often I'll have an anonymous guest on the show to give listeners a glimpse into what men's work at ManTalks is actually like. This time, my guest is already familiar with what we do, so I dive right in. If you're the kind of person who has difficulty standing up for themselves, or can't seem to control negative self-talk, this may be a helpful episode to dig into. We talk a lot about something I call "implosive anger", aka when instead of having a healthy relationship with the anger you feel, you suppress and direct it back at yourself. Pick up my brand-new book, Men's Work: A Practical Guide To Face Your Darkness, End Self-Sabotage, And Find Freedom: https://mantalks.com/mens-work-book/ Check out some free resources: How To Quit Porn | Anger Meditation | How To Lead In Your Relationship Build brotherhood with a powerful group of like-minded men from around the world. It's very good at shaming you, pointing out what you regret, holding you down, and becoming your inner critic.

All right, my friend, my anonymous guest for today, it's been a while since I've done one of

these episodes.

And there's been a lot of requests for them.

And it's been interesting because I think this is a way, I've thought a lot about how to use

0:33.5

this show and not just in a way that benefits me in the conversations that I get to have

0:40.6

because I selfishly love having conversations with amazing people, but in a way that can give

0:45.5

back to both the audience and the listener in terms of being able to hear what quote-un unquote the work might look like or sound like.

0:58.7

And so that's what today is going to be all about.

We will keep all of this as anonymous as you want.

So if, you know, parents, maybe leave parents names out of it

or partners names or friends or you just share whatever you feel comfortable with. So with all

of that said and in mind, why don't you tell myself and the listener a little bit about

1:24.1

why you are here and what you're looking to potentially work on or resolve.

1:31.8

Yeah, thanks.

1:32.8

I feel as if looking at my anger would be really helpful for me.

1:38.1

I do know that for years I stuffed my anger deep inside the shadow and I've come a long way in the three years

that I've been a part of the alliance and I'm grateful for that. But I do know that there's

areas of my life where it's still not present in a healthy way of understanding that when my
