Afghanistan. He was my second squad leader. This guy we've been through hell and

back together. Lots of different firefights who almost died multiple times and you

know this is this will be the 23rd episode of Battleground and as I reflect on the last five months and how far this

podcast has come, I started thinking like man it'd be cool to like bring guys on

that have been boots on the ground front towards

enemy you know risk in their life day in and day out for this country and just talk about what that

experience was like and then maybe about what it was like to come home for them and really do

everything we can to use this platform to give them an opportunity to tell their

story to the world and so I think that's particularly important given that you know only

0.4% of this country have served during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan

that's 20 years the longest period of war in American history, and that all-volunteer force has carried a very, very heavy burden for a very long time.

And now, you know, you saw the Iraq Iraq war end you saw the debacle and the

surrender in Afghanistan and and what that is meant for our troops but a lot of the

men and women who served in those conflicts are now home and trying to, you know, raise a family and make a living and adjust to civilian life.
