It's unbelievable!

It's Roch, it's Friday, and what a week we've lived through. One filled with the exploits of Ricardo Pepe, Emma Radacano, Tennessee's coming home.

And Premier League football's back! We will dig into all of it, but first I want to tell you about something I'm so bloody excited about.

Because this week was also Band of Brothers 20th birthday and to mark that massive anniversary, it's been the honour of a lifetime to work with JWU in partnership with HBA to produce the show's official podcast series.

To interview the creators and actors about the making of my favourite show, and learn how it helps cement the legacies of the real men of Easy Company.

I watched the Epic Hanks & Spielberg retelling when it first hit HBO screens back in September 9th, 2001, and I loved it at first sight, immediately entranced by that epic scope.

The epic narrative, the cast, the 10,000 extras, as Pepe Gwadiola would say, it was incredible.

And like thousands of die hard fans across America, I've gone on to rewatch the entire series every year, richly, around Veterans Day.

And every time I watch, every time I relive Easy Company's journey of heroes, I notice new details, a line that passed me by,

which now resonates as a sudden truth, just a deeper meaning. And that experience reinforces my understanding of and immense gratitude towards that generation who pulled the world back for the brink of destruction.

I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day, when he said, Grandpa, were you here in the war? Grandpa said no.

But I served in a company of girls.

Band the Brothers is both a remarkable and important television series for so bloody many reasons.

And one of the things I'm most fascinated about as the show turns 20, is that its popularity seems to grow year on year as it's discovered and experienced by new, ever-younger audiences.

And I truly believe when I learn that, that there can be few more important shows for our time and place, because my own love of the show is rooted in my childhood in 1980s Liverpool, a city which was in many ways still recovering from the war.

And as a kid, as those of you who've read my book will know, I was immensely close with my grandfather, Sam, by then a butcher, but once in his younger days, a desert rat who survived a prolonged and brutal siege, facing up to Rommel's mass panzers at two-broker, a decisive engagement which really turned the war in Africa.

I actually have his medals, my grandfather's medals on the set behind me, those of you who watch our show regularly will know.
