Those hoping to be regaled with stories of transfer, sagas, locker room intrigue, confrontation with your legendary contemporaries will be disappointed.

But those looking for real insight into football, philosophy and life will be rewarded.

Was that your intent when you sat down to write the book?

Yeah, I wanted just to convince a little bit young people now that life can be surprising, it can be much more than what you could imagine when you're a child, and as well share the lessons of life without the people.

The book begins in 1949. Young Arsenal is born in the tiny French village of Dutlandheim in Alsace, Northeastern France.

Your father's bistro miles away from professional football, you say it felt like a distant, inaccessible world, nobody around you believed it might become your life.
