Oh, Brad, good now I'm with you. I want a journey through a Copa. Few have had a better Copa than you. Let me take you back to the beginning of camp 31 days ago.

It feels longer. You were right. Off a tough Premier League season and you come to camp with Tim Howard locked in a goalkeeping quarterback controversy.

And on May 21st, Yurkin Klinzman says Brad Guzan is my number one starting goalkeeper for the Copa. How did Yurkin break the news to you Brad?

Did you are going to be the starter? Set the scene, which room? Who was in it? What did he say?

To be honest, it wasn't as exciting as a lot of people probably think. Yurkin had pulled myself in Tim aside and we just had a quick chat, a quick meeting.

And I think he and at that point might have already spoken to Tim, but you know, at that point he had kind of just told me the news in Tim was obviously really supportive.

And yeah, it was almost as simple as that. So like I said, probably not as exciting as you guys would have.

I imagine there were oil paintings being revealed. I've got a very dramatic imagination, but can you describe your emotions when you find out that you are going to start? Is it relief?

Is it a confidence booster? Or did you just suddenly feel incredible pressure as you start to think about the first game? Columbia?

No, I think the first and foremost is excitement. You know, you always want to be the guy that's going to play. So first and foremost, it's excitement.

And at the same time, it is a confidence booster because you always want to, you always want the manager support, coaching staff support and their backing.

So to have them be able to come out and say that probably, you know, kind of before the tournament started, it's a nice feeling, but it doesn't change the job at hand, which is to go and perform.

I'm going to take you to a dark place for a minute, Brad. I'm going to make you relive that first game, that first performance, the team 2-0 down, 2 Columbia, tough evening for the United States.
