We back like Jason Mahmoud and Lisa Bonnet. What an incredible weekend we have just lived through together Dave A. Madness, Joy, Solidarity, Chaos, Confusion.

We saw I think the best and the worst of the game. And we've always said football is just a mirror that reflects the goodness and the darkness of the world that surrounds it.

And this weekend we experienced that over and over and over both in the players with their spontaneous demonstrations of support for Ukraine and football bureaucrats in their fairly corrupt and horrific way.

So many different elements to break down. You kind of need to be a property lawyer, a forensic accountant, a geopolitics PhD to understand it all.

But big picture Dave, how are you feeling? I've been just shaken by this. And we'll get to the football part of it. I've just been shaken by this on a human level.

And just these awful images, you know, the stuff of nightmares. And I've struggled to think about how important football is or how important it is to talk about football or even talk about football relative to this.

As you so rightly pointed out football is a mirror and it reflects every part of the world. And unfortunately football, I'm not sure that you can go all the way to say it's played a part in causing this, but it's certainly reflecting it and it's certainly not making it better.

And I struggle and as a Chelsea fan, and I'm sure to some extent, I'm not trying to equivocate the two, but I'm sure to some extent as an everton fan, you feel the same way as it feels very, very disorienting to sort of reconcile your fandom of the club you love and the players you love and the coaches you love with just now severe questions about ownership, which then just leads into

like how we feel about the amount of money that's completely corrupted football and leads us towards this path towards FIFA and UEFA and Qatar and everything else that's that's wrong in the game.

I mean, let's dive into it. I've said repeatedly over the past couple of days of pods, the true horror of the abyss that we're staring into is that the past we assumed we'd left behind you know as you and I have marveled at shows like World War II in color or that past is actually our future and we're driving

right into it plunging right into it from a football ownership perspective, which will also get to a long for the innocent days when I look at West Ham, why can't my club just be run by two pornographers, but no,

number one football, we've talked about it for the past decade together, long ago sold its soul to geopolitical powers and FIFA, UEFA, the Premier League, every institution they were willing to take money from sovereign states, from oligarchs and their front like gas from the Russian energy company, you gave you a for $45 million a year, it was a two way exchange in which football took their riches,

eyes open and the state's in oligarchs were able to sports wash their reputations, clean up their image, influence pedal, master dot reality, say over you know a war in Yemen, that was okay football looked away, Syria football looked away, what's changed is the sudden buckling of the post cold war reality,

AKA one of those sports washes has threatened nuclear war and that has forced football to make some massive moral decisions quickly in regards to Russia with the world watching and we know this, David, something like Craven organizations like FIFA operating as they do at scarrow manga levels of self interest, they're not prepared for a tour and they're not good at doing.

Yeah football is not prepared for the fact that Vladimir Putin has nuclear weapons, because when this unfortunately when you boil all this down, this really comes down to nuclear weapons and a nuclear threat, which is what is so horrific about this entire thing first on Friday, you afer the European governing body swift in their actions, they announce they were moving their dual prestige champions, the final ripping it from Saint Peter's bird, putin's hometown from a stadium built by gas from.

Moving it to Paris, make no mistake this hurts putting a lot of people like it's just a game who cares putin you know his images of judo not anymore.

I think he's been banned. Yeah, he's not a judo anything. He was banned by the anyway, suddenly we're all judo experts he has been banned from his honorary presidency of of the judo association, he's an ice hockey addict.
