All right, guys, we've got a special guest on the podcast today. Her name is Melissa Doherty.

She is a Christian apologist, author and YouTuber, and she's the author of the fantastic new book,

Happy Lies, how a Movement You Probably Never

Heard of, Shaped Our Self-Obsessed World.

And so, guys, again, I read a lot of books for the show.

And, you know, I've kind of toned it down a little bit over the years, but I still read

a lot of books.

I'm basically reading a book at all times.

This book is the best book I've read so far in 2025. So it would be it would be crazy if it didn't end up on the best books of the year list for

2025. But I found this book to be deeply, deeply helpful because she goes into a long description

of new thought. And that's going to be a phrase or an ideology that some of you guys are not

really familiar with. Perhaps you've heard of New Age. And New Age is kind of the frontal

assault, whereas New Thought is kind of like the backdoor approach to a lot of these really

satanic and negative ideologies that a lot of people have bought into. And so in this

particular interview, we talk about, okay, well, where does this come from? And it comes from

her believing a lot of these ideologies and philosophies as she was growing up in her life

and how that kind of stemmed from her having a lot of spiritual questions that were not met with

very good answers. And so she thought she was finding good answers in other people that were

kind of more in this new thought way of doing things. So we talk about that disillusionment.

We talk about how new thought is kind of undergirded by something she calls happy lies, what all that's about, and how the most nefarious thing about new thought being that it really, really does look and sound Christian, even though it is theologically bankrupt. We talk about the remedy to some of these philosophies, which, you know, it's no spoiler alert here, but having

some sort of a biblical literacy and an understanding of how we are to comport ourselves
