Summary

When Melissa Corley Carter was in 5th grade, an astronaut came and talked to her class. She knew then that she wanted to travel into space herself. She became a rocket scientist, but she wasn’t able to realize her astronaut dream. She did achieve another audacious goal, though; she ran a marathon on all seven continents.

She wrote Running the World: Marathon Memoirs from the Seven Continents about her outer marathon journey and her inner journey of creating a more powerful and purposeful life. As she says, “Running has such a capacity to connect us to our bodies, to the rhythm of the earth, to our own nature.” In this conversation, she shares what she learned from both journeys.

Thank you for joining me. I'm excited that you are here and we have

0:56.8

such a cool guest today who has previously worked in a role that I don't think we've ever

1:04.0

had a previous podcast guest take on but also a really amazing story in basically turning your

1:12.9

life around when things don't turn out how you hoped. This is such a good lesson for runners

1:19.6

and you are going to easily see why she is a runner. She's done marathons on all the

that? By the way, a rocket scientist had this lifelong dream from childhood found out,
