My name is Jared and I'm joined here with the Show Me the Meaning crew. We got Austin Austin. Yeah what up. And today we got a special

guest. We have novelist and philosopher Lars Iver. How's it going Lars?

It's going my well, thanks. Yeah, thank you for joining us. Lars and Austin are... Tell me a little bit about how you guys know each other.

Well, it's actually kind of funny. So, Lars is actually friends with Michael Burns, who I met at the University of Dundee

when we were doing postgraduate research there, and Lars is good friends with people in the department at the University of Dundee and I did not know Lars at all while I was there

But Michael used to rave about Lars's books and then my friend Troy, who I obviously do owls at dawn with, has also loved Lars's books.

And so that was actually how I first found Lars.

It was well before I actually ever even spoke with him.

And then the way that we actually got connected in like real human terms,

still through digital terms I guess, was because of his most recent book

Nietzsche and the Burbs and it recently just came out and I was like I gotta get this guy

as a guest on our podcast and finally know, philosophy is a very small community.

And so I guess everyone kind of runs in similar circles.

Well, I don't know which one of you it was,

but somebody recommended that we do the movie Melanchalia, which is the movie we're talking about today, the 2011 film starring Kirsten Duns, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, Charlotte Gainsburg, Stellon Scarsgard, Alexander Scarsgard, written and directed by
