Welcome to Out To Lunch with me, J Rainer, a new show in which I take interesting people

to eat in a great restaurant that I choose for them. We eat, we talk, we eat some more,

what's not to love? And having been a restaurant critic for 20 years, I can tell you that a

good table, laid with great food is the perfect place for this. People simply relax more when

they're being fed well. Today I'm dining with an actual flipping spice girl, sporty spice,

melsey, melney chism, need I say more?

How long come I going to want to jump around, silly one of you?

But I'm 45 and I can't wait to jump around and sing one of these.

So for this edition of Out To Lunch, I have come to Selfridges, the great department store

in Oxford Street, not for the food hall, but because they've opened a new restaurant.

I was thinking, where do you take a spice girl for lunch? Well, the Brasery of Light. Now,

I haven't eaten here, but many people that I respect and regard well, they've eaten here,

they say it's great. Plus it has a sculpture of Pegasus with a 20 foot wingspan, made completely

out of crystals by Damien Herst. The whole place is shiny, it's glitzy, it's very, very sexy,

it's perfect for a spice girl. Let's get inside.
