Have you ever heard of a hot wash? No, I'm not talking about your wife doing the laundry or your car.

I'm talking about as it pertains to combat, combat situations, a hot wash.

You ever heard that term?

Well, here's what it is, just in case you haven't.

There are different terms for it.

But essentially, if you go out on a patrol, a mission, anything, of any kind, when you get

back almost immediately, you will gather and you

will discuss it. And it is a very, very direct, direct discussion, meaning who screwed up,

who did good, who did bad, why did you do this? That was terrible. You almost killed everybody.

Why did you do that? A hot wash. Now, from the outside looking in, that almost seems a touch cruel,

or it can seem a little bit cruel. Everybody just got backed or tired. Maybe people died.

Why are you doing this? Well, it's not about what happened before. It's about

ensuring that going forward, if there were mistakes made, and there are always mistakes made,

those mistakes are discussed, that they are exposed, discussed, and a solution is brought up.

That's why it is, but it's the norm, happens all the time.
